If diameter of a wire is increased by 2 times, then how will it's resistance change?

If the diameter of a wire is increased by 2 times, its resistance will decrease.

This is because resistance of a wire is inversely proportional to the square of its diameter (or the square of its radius).

So, if the diameter becomes 2 times larger, the resistance will become 1 divided by 2 squared, which is 1/4.

That means the resistance will become one-fourth of its original value.
