A spring of force constant K is cut into three pieces of equal length.Find the force constant of each piece.


The force constant (k) is inversely proportional to the length of the spring (x). It is given by the relation: F = kx Or, k = F/x Since the spring has been divided into three sections, the length of each section is one-third of the total length. As a result, the spring constant of each component is three times that of the entire spring.
