Osmium shows +8 oxidation state in Oso4.
Hey! So, the element that shows a +8 oxidation state is osmium (symbol Os).
It's actually one of the only elements known to reach such a high oxidation state. You'll mostly see this in the compound osmium tetroxide (OsO₄), where osmium has an oxidation state of +8.
There's also ruthenium and xenon that can reach +8 in some cases, but osmium is the most well-known for it. It's pretty rare for elements to go that high, because it means the atom is losing a lot of electrons, which takes a lot of energy.
That's why you don’t see many elements doing it.
