Emphysema is a type of lung disease that causes shortness of breath. The air sacs in the lungs (alveoli) are damaged in people with emphysema. The inner walls of the air sacs weaken and rupture over time, resulting in larger air spaces rather than many small ones. This reduces the surface area of the lungs and, as a result, the amount of oxygen in our bloodstream.

Okay, so emphysema is a lung disease that makes it hard to breathe.
It happens when the tiny air sacs in your lungs, called alveoli, get damaged. These air sacs are super important because they help your lungs take in oxygen and get rid of carbon dioxide.
In emphysema, the walls between the alveoli break down, and the lungs become less stretchy, so it’s harder to push air out when you breathe.
It’s usually caused by smoking and gets worse over time, so people with emphysema often feel short of breath, especially during physical activity.

Emphysema is a chronic lung condition where the air sacs in the lungs get damaged. Normally, these air sacs help with the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide, but in emphysema, the walls of the air sacs break down and lose their shape.
This makes it hard for the lungs to push air out, so the person feels short of breath. It usually develops slowly and is most often caused by long-term smoking.
Over time, it can make everyday activities like walking or climbing stairs really tiring.

Emphysema is a disease that affects your lungs and makes it hard to breathe. It happens when the tiny air sacs in your lungs, which help you take in oxygen, get stretched out and damaged.
Because of that, air gets trapped in the lungs, and it becomes tough to breathe out properly.
People with emphysema often feel like they’re out of breath, even when they’re not doing much.
It mostly happens to people who have been smoking for a long time, and it gets worse over time if not treated.

Emphysema is a lung condition where the small air sacs in the lungs, called alveoli, get damaged and lose their ability to work properly.
These air sacs are supposed to help with taking in oxygen and letting out carbon dioxide. But in emphysema, they get stretched or even destroyed, so it becomes harder to breathe, especially when trying to exhale.
People with emphysema often feel short of breath and tired.
It usually develops slowly and is most commonly caused by smoking.
