Removal of gonads, which are the testes in males and ovaries in females, isn't considered a contraceptive option because contraception means preventing pregnancy in a way that can usually be reversed or managed without permanently changing the body.

Removing the gonads is a permanent surgical procedure that completely stops the production of sex hormones and gametes—like sperm or eggs—so it’s actually more extreme than regular contraception.

It’s more like sterilization or even a treatment for certain medical conditions, like cancer or hormone-related disorders, rather than something people would normally choose just to prevent pregnancy.

That’s why we don’t classify it under regular contraceptive methods.
