According to media reports, the National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) UG 2024 in a hybrid format to assist students in rural areas. The CUET will include both pen-and-paper tests and computer-based tests (CBT), allowing students in remote regions to take the exam closer to their homes. Subjects with more registrations will have multiple-choice questions in the pen-and-paper format for easier accessibility. Local schools and colleges will serve as exam centers.
The CUET UG 2024 will be held from May 15 to May 31 in three shifts: 9 AM to 11 AM, 12:30 PM to 2 PM, and 4 PM to 5:30 PM. The number of subjects will be reduced from ten to six to manage technical challenges, particularly in releasing the answer key on time.
UGC Chairman M. Jagadesh Kumar highlighted the importance of adapting to changes in education and ensuring a positive exam experience. The move to a hybrid mode and reduction in subjects aim to address practical challenges while maintaining the significance of CUET UG 2024.
Previously, the NTA Director General mentioned that reducing the subjects from ten to six is sufficient for undergraduate admissions. Students are advised to focus on five to six key subjects related to their chosen programs. The syllabi for domains and languages will align with the rationalized curriculum. With better logistics and planning, the exam is expected to be conducted within approximately 15 days.
