What are some effective NEET preparation tips from the experts?
Remembering the steps to success in your NEET preparation can be difficult. These tips from the experts will help you stay on track and make the most of your studies.
1. Make a study schedule and stick to it
One of the most effective ways to study is to schedule a given amount of time for it each day and stick to that schedule. This is much more difficult than it sounds, but if you can do it consistently, you will see results. If you need a little help, try one of the many timers available. You can set it up to remind you when your study session is over and set an interval timer (if you only have time for 10 minutes today, you can do 5 minutes at a time). I also recommend setting up a review schedule.
2. Get plenty of rest, exercise, and healthy food
NEET preparation is a grind and your body suffers for it. Not only are you under constant stress, but you probably don’t sleep enough and certainly don’t exercise as much as you should. At the very least, try to make sure that you get at least 8 hours of sleep every night and try to do active things in your free time. In terms of nutrition, pay attention to what you eat and make sure that it is healthy. You can try avoiding processed foods as much as possible (e.g., no fast food).
3. Take breaks when you need
You can make the most of your exam preparation by taking breaks when you need them. If you’re feeling tired or stressed, take a break. If it’s been a while since you checked in on your friends and family, take a break. Even if you’re in the middle of an exam, take a break. Your breaks don’t have to be long — just enough to give yourself a moment to breathe and refocus before getting back to your studies. If you must be on your phone during study time, do not get distracted by social media sites like Facebook and Twitter as this will only lower your concentration level thus hampering your
NEET exam preparation.
NEET exam takers should generally avoid looking at their phones for any reason during study time — even if someone is texting or calling you — unless it is an urgent matter that cannot wait until after the exam is over. Concentration is important for NEET prep so try not to get distracted from what you are doing especially near the end of your study session.
At the end of every studying session (or at least once a day), it is good to take a 5–10-minute break where you can stretch out and move around if need be. This also helps prevent eye strain and muscle aches which can make it hard to concentrate while studying for NEET exams.
4. Stay positive and motivated
It is very difficult to stay positive and motivated when you are preparing for NEET. It’s a huge examination, and it’s only natural that you will get stressed. To stay positively motivated, here are some tips:
- Talk to your parents: They might have undergone the same stress as you are undergoing now, and they may be able to share some valuable insights with you.
- Remember the importance of NEET: When you write NEET, you don’t just prove that you are intelligent; it also helps in getting admission into good medical colleges of your choice after 12th board examinations.
- Start preparing early: The sooner you start preparing for NEET, the more time you will have for revision and preparation for NEET exam questions.
- Prepare well for the other board exams that come before NEET: You should at least give equal importance to all the other exams that come before NEET exam because a bad performance in them can spoil your attempts at getting into a good medical college after 12th board examinations.
5. Seek help when you need it
When you need it, the help of a NEET mentor can be invaluable. A NEET mentor will help you study for the test, prepare for what to expect on test day, and maintain your focus so that you can perform your best on exam day.
If you’re preparing for the exam, these NEET mentors can help you:
- Prepare for what to expect on test day
- Maintain your focus so that you can perform your best on exam day
The following are some tips to consider when using a NEET mentor:
- Schedule regular study sessions with your NEET mentor or tutor. This allows you to review anything you may have missed or forgotten during the last session. It also helps to keep up with any new information that has been added since the last meeting.
- Ask questions if something is confusing or difficult to understand. Your NEET mentor is there to help make sure that you completely understand everything before moving forward.
- Ask questions if something doesn’t seem fair or accurate. Your NEET mentor should be able to explain anything that is difficult to understand. If there seems to be an error, notify your tutor immediately so they can make corrections as soon as possible in order for other students not to be prejudiced by the same error.
6. Believe in yourself
One of the most common problems we see is not a lack of knowledge but a lack of belief in oneself. I’ve had to do this myself many times, and one of the best solutions I’ve found is to pretend that you already know it or have done it. You can always ask for help if you feel too stupid, but if you don’t ask for help when you need it and keep pretending you already have the knowledge, your brain will generally make up for the difference. I got this advice from my own high school teacher who told me about a trick he uses for math exams: he keeps writing down his own answers and checking them off as he goes along (in his head) so that in the end there isn’t any question that he knows what is going on. It works because when you do this, your brain starts supplying answers without being asked. I also like to believe that my mind works better when I’m positive and confident about what I am doing (and thus more likely to be right). This is why I say “I know how to do this” out loud while looking at a problem; it hard-codes confidence into my thinking.
Any time you feel yourself doubting yourself or feeling stupid, stop what you are doing and tell yourself: “I am smart enough for this! My mind has done X before. All I have to do is remember how I did it then!” And after saying that aloud once, imagine yourself saying it again next time with even more confidence. The idea is not necessarily to believe in yourself but rather just convince your brain that believing in itself is the best way forward — and then let your mind take care of the rest!.
7. Never Give Up
Never give up. This is what we as human beings learned from our experiences. A lot of my friends are working and they are all very busy. However, never give up is the most important thing they have learned while they struggle through their life. Never give up is the best attitude for cracking any hurdle in life.
Never give up will not make you a winner, but it certainly makes you a fighter and that’s what gives you an opportunity to become a winner. I am sure you had already gone through this phase and doing something that needs great level of commitment. At some point of time, you may feel like giving up, but don’t do that because even though it seems like life is not on your side, if you have faith in yourself and keep moving ahead then success will definitely come to you.
